A bit of personal history and memory - as a kid we wore new clothes on the first day of the new year suggesting an auspicious beginning for good luck to come. My mother would let me choose the new clothes to buy (of course with given budget which was not a lot). That was one of the happiest times of the year. Not just because you get new clothes but also you were granted the say how to dress yourself when you were still a kid. My interest in wardrobe and my skill developed by learning probably started from this.

And today I often wonder - what first informed our eye? And what factors shaped our taste? Heritage and culture? Education and intuition? The era you are in? Or who we hang out with?

I am never a trend person. Today I am still wearing the same make and style of sneakers as what I wore when I was 9.
